Características audiológicas y tratamiento con hormona de crecimiento en niñas con síndrome de Turner: estudio retrospectivo en un hospital pediátrico de referencia

Resumen

Introducción: El síndrome de Turner resulta de la ausencia parcial o total del cromosoma X y afecta exclusivamente a pacientes del sexo femenino. Las pacientes presentan talla baja, disgenesia gonadal, malformaciones vasculares y linfáticas, así como diversas formas de hipoacusia. La hipoacusia conductiva se ha asociado con otitis media recurrente, anomalías estructurales de la base del cráneo y alteraciones del gen SHOX, importante en el desarrollo de estructuras derivadas del primer y segundo arco faríngeo. Objetivo: Describir las características audiológicas de pacientes pediátricas con síndrome de Turner tratadas con hormona de crecimiento recombinante en el Hospital Infantil de México "Federico Gómez". Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de casos y controles. Se incluyeron pacientes pediátricas con diagnóstico citogenético confirmado por hibridación fluorescente in situ (FISH) de síndrome de Turner, atendidas entre enero de 2016 y diciembre de 2021, con estudios audiológicos documentados y tratamiento con hormona de crecimiento recombinante. Resultados: Se incluyeron 43 pacientes: 29 en el grupo de hormona de crecimiento y 14 controles, con edades medianas de 7.17 y 8.39 años respectivamente. Los estudios audiológicos realizados demostraron que el tratamiento con hormona de crecimiento recombinante no modifica el patrón auditivo en las niñas con síndrome de Turner. Conclusión: Este es el primer estudio mexicano que describe las características audiológicas en pacientes pediátricas exclusivamente con síndrome de Turner y su relación con el tratamiento hormonal. El trabajo establece una línea de referencia para futuras investigaciones, mejorando la atención médica de estas pacientes y generando conocimiento en otorrinolaringología pediátrica.
